Tron is making the leap to TV. With the release of Tron: Legacy a few weeks away, Variety reports that Disney is producing a new animated series, Tron: Uprising, which will premiere Summer 2012.

Airing on Disney XD, the series will be executive produced and directed by Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack). The voice cast will include Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens and Lance Henriksen, with Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role from the films as Tron.

Tron: Uprising will be proceeded by a previously announced Disney XD 10-episode Tron “microseries”, airing fall 2011.

Disney XD has also ordered the new live-action comedy Wasabi Warriors, described by Variety as being about, “a ragtag group of kids at the worst martial arts studio in the country.”
