Emmanuelle Chriqui Interview with Jewish Journal

Emmanuelle Chriqui recently conducted an interview with Jewish Journal.

Here are some highlights, visit their website to read the whole interview:

Chriqui set her sights on performing “at 3 or 4. I was such a little ham, always entertaining the family. From the moment I could talk I knew I was going to be an actress, singer, dancer, artist–something in the arts,” she said. “Then when I was 7, I did my first play, and that was my ‘aha!’ moment.”

Parallel to developing her own projects to act in and produce, Chriqui hopes that meaningful roles in Emmy- and Oscar-worthy ensembles with top producers, directors and writers come her way. She’d love to get to use her French again, and is open to exploring all genres. For her, it’s “always about the material. Big comedy is scary to me,” she admitted. “But it’s something I keep doing.”

For Chriqui, “It’s about determining what brings me joy and what doesn’t, and if it doesn’t just let it go,” she said. “That’s the ultimate for me.”

Emmanuelle Chriqui Dishes on the Boys of Entourage

When Entourage makes its silver screen debut on June 3rd, fans of the long-running HBO series are in for a treat. The film picks up where the show left off, chronicling the continuing career of movie star Vincent Chase, his merry entourage of hometown buddies and their perfectly imperfect antics. We sat down with the film’s female star, Emmanuelle Chriqui, to give her thoughts on Entourage‘s five main men—the guys who, after eight seasons and one film—are more like family than friends.

  1. Adrian Grenier:  He’s like an angel.  He cares about the world.  He really cares about our planet and the state of our planet and humanity. It’s bigger than his amazing career; he’s Captain Planet.

  2. Kevin Connolly:  He just makes me laugh. I call him ‘The Commander.’ Connolly calls it, man; he’s a director. To be a director you have to be able to manage 10 million things at once. He’s kind of like a visionary that way. It takes a very specific type to be able to do that.  Of everyone on set, he’s the one who will be like ‘Let’s get this in three takes and let’s go.  He commands attention and respect.

  3. Jeremy Piven:  Fiercely talented. I mean, I could honestly watch him read a book. And [he’s] witty, so very witty.

  4. Jerry Ferrara: I have the biggest soft spot for that guy. He’s so emotionally intelligent. He’s so clued in that it makes him a great actor, and a great friend as well.

  5. Kevin Dillon:  He’s like joy and old school charm in a bottle. He’s such a gentleman; he’s such a love. He’s really a tender guy and his comedic timing is on another level.

Emmanuelle Chriqui Designs Baume & Mercier Watch Bands

To actress Emmanuelle Chriqui time is a mystery. “On the one hand, as the seconds and minutes go by without us noticing, we wonder where they went; on the other hand, we have the consciousness that time is slipping by so quickly. This resonates with me in the deepest sense. It is bittersweet.” With delicate features and that infectious smile, Chriqui has charmed audiences in her roles in Entourage, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and The Mentalist. Currently she has two movies in the works, A Short History of Decay and Omphalos, due out this fall.

A longtime fan of Baume & Mercier and friend of the brand, Chriqui recently embarked on a project to help design specially made watch straps—known for their easy interchangeability and versatility—for its women’s Linea line. Chriqui admits that she has been enamored of watches since she was young.

“My father, who is my hero, had a nice collection, and I inherited my love of timepieces from him,” says Chriqui, who received her very first watch from her father at the age of 14. “It may not have been what he would have chosen for me, but it was what I wanted: a big, clunky men’s two-timezone watch!”

Chriqui says she loved working on designing the new interchangeable straps for Baume & Mercier. Her synergy with the brand has been ongoing since she visited Geneva at SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) two years ago for the launch of its Seaside Living campaign and the then-new Hampton watch collection.

“I was thrilled when they asked if I would like to collaborate on a piece. I visited the factory and spent several days with them talking about my design preferences, and it seemed natural to create a new strap for the Linea line. I said I thought it would be fun to incorporate texture into the look. Having a braided or woven strap is a nice juxtaposition of hard and soft. It’s cool and classic at the same time.”

With homes in both LA and New York, Chriqui travels often. “Being bi-coastal is such a welcome adventure because I love both cities so much.” In Los Angeles, she enjoys weekend mornings the most: “My favorite thing to do in LA is wake up on a beautiful Sunday and get brunch at either Café Gratitude or M Café, followed by a stroll along Larchmont; I check out the farmers market and then see where the day leads. I love having no plans!”
